In Pictures: The Explosive Colour of Japanese Poster Design
With 226 Japanese posters on exhibit in its Gallery of Honor, Colorful Japan is the museum's memorial tribute to Japanese graphic artist Shigeru Watano. Watano, a Dutch resident, who served as an essential conduit between Stedelijk and several Japanese designers. His assistance allowed Stedelijk to purchase several Japanese posters, and generous Japanese designers donated their works to the institution.
