Globe Poster Printing Corp. Collection at MICA

1017
"Lore has it that Globe was founded over a card game in 1929. Norman Goldstein and Harry Shapiro chose its location by folding a map; the crease landed on Baltimore. Globe grew into one of the nation’s largest showcard printing companies....Globe promoted the people’s entertainment, including vaudeville, burlesque, movies, circus and carnival acts, and found its groove in the 1960s with posters for top R&B and rock acts like Mavis Staples, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye and the Beach Boys....When Globe Poster Printing Corp. closed its doors in 2011, the Maryland Institute College of Art stepped in to preserve Globe’s archive and to ensure the Globe story didn’t end.".—https://globeatmica.com/history-of-globe/
