Sheila Levrant de Bretteville Experimental Impulse interview

1021
"In this interview Sheila de Bretteville talks about her involvement as faculty in the first years of the Calarts Design School. Through examples such as the design of a 'vacuum packed' poster advertising the school and the book "Prologue to a Community," Sheila talks about connecting the Design School and those coming into it to the larger social context of the time. Later she speaks about her teaching experiences in the Design School, a consciousness raising session involving children and menstruation, and the beginning of the Woman's Design Program at Calarts. "We'd find out what it means to be a woman in terms of design. I don't have an agenda other than figuring it out together." - Sheila de Bretteville. Interview conducted by Benjamin Tong in October, 2011." –East of Borneo
