“Pink” poster

1021
"This broadsheetlike poster was a commission from the American Institute of Graphic Arts, which asked 100 designers to explore the theme of color. Wanting to reinvest pink with more positive and diverse meanings beyond the usual “sugar and spice,” de Bretteville invited women ages 13 to 80 to draw or write about this deeply gendered color. The designer assembled these points of view into a single poster, which she printed at the Woman’s Building and pasted up around Los Angeles." –Louise Sandhaus, Earthquakes, Mudslides, Fires & Riots: California and Graphic Design 1936-1986
