1993-94 CHARLOTTE HORNETS BASKETBALL POCKET SCHEDULE

2

This pocket schedule features the 1993–1994 season cover for the Charlotte Hornets. The design reflects the team’s original visual identity introduced in 1988, when the franchise debuted logos and branding created by menswear designer Alexander Julian.

Julian’s branding centered on a bold teal and purple palette—an unconventional blue-green and violet combination at the time—paired with a playful, cartoon-styled hornet in motion. The buzzing mascot, rendered with dynamic linework and athletic attitude, helped establish one of the most recognizable identities in early 1990s professional sports. The teal and purple colorway quickly gained national popularity, extending beyond the court into fashion and streetwear culture and contributing to significant merchandise sales during the franchise’s early years.

This particular schedule was located via a search for “Charlotte basketball” on Internet Archive, where it is preserved as part of the historical record of sports ephemera and regional graphic design.
