Hiroshima Appeals 1983

10

Hiroshima Appeals, a joint project of the Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA) and the Hiroshima International Cultural Foundation, is a campaign to produce one poster each year with the theme of appealing to the world with the "spirit of Hiroshima" beyond words. The first poster was created by Yusaku Kamekura, then chairman of JAGDA.
When creating this poster, Kamekura was mindful to maintain a purely neutral stance that transcended all politics, ideologies, and religions, and to speak strongly to people's hearts while maintaining beauty and dignity.
