Konig-Pilsener Bierdeckel
This is a German bierdeckel from around the mid 1970's. Bierdeckels were cheap paper toppers for mugs of beer in order to keep the bugs out. They were often used as coasters as well. This is a bierdeckel for the Konig-Pilsener brewery. The bierdeckel has the same imagery on both sides. Above the name of the brewery is the logo for the brewery. In the center, surrounded by red, is a crown. The word ‘Konig’ translates to king hence the royalty imagary used. Underneath the name is where the brewery is located, Duisburg, Germany. The coaster used a singular color that is bright and grabs attention.
