This title sequence is from the 2007 film Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. The film is centered around a 243-year-old man, Mr. Edward Magorium, and his wonder emporium. The film was produced by Mandate Pictures, Walden Media, and FilmColony. Starring Dustin Hoffmann and Natalie Portman, the film explores a child's imagination and manifests it within the Wonder Emporium.
The title sequence was designed by William Joyce, Daniel Delpurgatorio, Brandon Oldenberg, and Justin C. Harder. It is created using flat illustrations similar to that of Saul Bass who used cut paper to create titles for “The Man With the Golden Arm”. It is very colorful to tune into the idea of a child's wonderland. This title sequence is exemplary of how important it is to portray the theme of the film without giving too much away. As designers of the new age, designing title sequences is an interesting way for us to explore the possibilities of our field.
