Barack Obama marked an extraordinary moment in American History as the first African-American president of the United States. Throughout his life, Obama was dedicated to public service and tried to unite people through politics. In 1996, he was elected to the Illinois State Senate for the thirteenth district, where he helped produce numerous reforms, including expanding health care and tax relief for American families. In 2000, President Obama ran for US Congress, although he ultimately lost to Bobby Rush he kept persevering. In 2004, he delivered a speech at the Democratic National Convention while completing his second book, The Audacity of Hope Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.
On November 4, 2008, Obama made history becoming the 44th president of the United States, and he went on to win his re-elected four years later as the Democratic nominee. To commemorate his inauguration, Lou Modica, made a poster with commemorates President Obama's inauguration on January 20, 2009, while also featuring on of his quotes, "We Create A New Tomorrow By What We Dream Today."
