Banksy, Soup Cans, Offset Lithograph on Paper

1

An homage to Andy Warhol's famous 1962 series of Campbell's Soup Can paintings that were later produced as prints, Banksy offers a contradiction to the meaning of Warhol's work with his Tesco soup cans. As opposed to Warhol's range of Campbell Soup Can flavors, Banksy speaks on the stark reality and monotony of surviving on a tight budget by showcasing cans of the same flavor of soup, offering criticism of the supermarket giant that has come to take over the contemporary marketplace.
