Keiichi Tanaami's NO MORE WAR is a silkscreen print made during the late 1960s, when the Vietnam War and anti-war movements were having major influence on art and popular culture. Tanaami was beginning his career as both artist and designer during that period, and his work was strongly influenced by Pop Art, especially artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. He used the bright colors, bold imagery, and graphic style associated with Pop Art to adress more serious subjects. In NO MORE WAR, Tanaami responds to the violence and political tension surrounding the Vietnam War while also commenting on consumer culture. The work shows how he combined the visual language of advertising and popular culture with social and political ideas, which became an important part of his early work.
