“CTT” Visual Identity

1

Originally relauched in 1993, by José Brandão.

José Brandão was an Portuguese Designer.  His most high-lighted works were album covers (for musicians like José Afonso, Sérgio Godinho, Fausto and more),  book covers (like “Animal Farm” by George Orwell), movie posters (like “Crónica dos Bons Malandros”, 1984) and more.

Throughout the 1990s, the organization of CTT underwent several changes. In 1992, CTT transformed into a public limited company with exclusively public capital, changing its name to CTT – Correios de Portugal, S.A., retaining postal and communications services, while the telecommunications area was handed over to Telecom, an autonomous company created for that purpose.

In this context, it became imperative to create a brand image strong enough to allow for its visibility, consolidation, and recognition, as well as formal distinction from other similar institutions. However, the intention was not to create a break with the symbol that had been used, as it was a reinterpretation made in 1964 based on the emblem created in 1953.

And nowadays, the visual identity isn’t the same, but still share similarities.
