RHCP - The Uplift Mofo Party Plan

129

This graphic design for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' 1987 album The Uplift Mofo Party Plan is a surrealist, psychedelic collage style featuring hand-drawn artwork by artist Gary Panter with photography by Nels Israelson. The album marked a collaboration between the band and Panter, who was known for his work in punk and alternative art, giving the album a distinct 1960s underground comic aesthetic. The art direction is credited to Henry Marquez, with the overall concept credited to the band. The cover was meant to capture the chaotic, fun, and energetic vibe of the band at the time, functioning as a "psychedelic street art" visual for the funk-metal sound of the record.
