Check out yo' mind!

6

Check out yo' mind! is a print piece by African American Master Artists-in Residency Program (AAMARP) founder Dana C. Chandler, Jr. Like most of his prints, this particular work was distributed throughout the community as a form of activism against racial injustice and a call to action for more Afrocentric art. Specifically, this print (among others) features the same side-profile silhouette as in one of Chandler's most representative works, Pan-African Man. He used this silhouette as a symbol to advocate for the reclamation of Black identity and the formation of a shared consciousness to unite the diaspora and work towards full social and political freedom. The text at the bottom of the print reads “Pseudo-graph series,” “Pan-African Art,” and a detailed signature, "Pan-African Artist Dana C. Chandler Jr." '70."
