Girl With Balloon

This famous mural was done multiple times in 2002 by Banksy. It depicts a girl reaching out towards a heart-shaped balloon, carried away by the wind. This design is what kicked off Banksy's popularity and inspired many other street artists and designers alike. This design was used for multiple social campaigns, including the West Bank barrier and the Syrian refugee crisis. 

A 2006 printed copy of the mural was put up for auction in 2018. It sold for £1,042,000 and—unbeknownst to everyone participating—began to shred itself. Shredding the piece during the auction itself made it more extraordinary and valuable. It sold again for 18x the original price in 2021.
