Jacques Cabaret ‘Perestroika’ Poster

19

A poster for a drag show called Perestroika at the Jacques Cabaret in Boston 2013. The main attraction and host is Katya, photographed in the poster, during these weekly drag shows. Katya's drag persona is parody Russian, so the name of the event and the design using the USSR flag is inspired by that. She typically performs to Russian songs in her shows. The name Perestroika is taken from the name of the political reform movement in the Communist Party meaning “restructuring” in Russian. Katya would later be a contestant in RuPaul's Drag Race season 7 and became one of the most popular drag queens to emerge from it. Ads for drag shows aren't typically stylized like this.
