Created for Kodansha’s design quarterly Graphic Design 88, this 1982 issue features a cover by Ikko Tanaka, one of Japan’s most influential modern designers. The reflective, droplet-like imagery suggests both material transformation and the visual language of an emerging digital age. Contrasted with minimalist yellow typography on a violet field, the composition captures Tanaka’s ability to merge Japanese spatial balance with international modernist clarity.
