Designer’s Name + Biography: 
Shigeo Fukuda (1932–2009)
He was a Japanese graphic designer known for his clever and playful visual style. He used simple shapes to create powerful messages.  Fukuda became internationally famous for his posters that included social and political themes, especially anti-war messages.

Cultural/Artistic Context: 
This poster was made in 1975, thirty years after World War II ended. It shows a bullet that also looks like a pencil. The idea is that war can turn into peace and creativity. Many Japanese designers at this time wanted to send messages about peace. Fukuda used design not just to sell things, but to make people think about the world.
