This is a small sized art history book, the author Cynthia Freeland is a philosopher of art. In this book, with the classic question of art history, "What is art?" as a hook, she introduces the definition of art, artistic practice and development in this little book

About the cover design of this book, the background is white, and the colorful cow picture in the center is the abstract art work "Crossfire Cow" created by American artist William Conger in 1999.

In terms of type design, all words use the sans-serif Helvetica English font. The text color of the title "But is it art" is close to the color used in William's work below, which are four basic colors- red, yellow, blue and green.
