Summa Cosmographica (全宇宙誌) is edited by Seigō Matsuoka (松岡正剛), and the book designer(造本) is Kōhei Sugiura (杉浦康平)。Kōhei Sugiura is an important Japanese graphic designer in history of graphic design, instead of following the rules of western standard gird system, he developed a more fluid and organic approach to layout, rooted the Japanese graphic design aethetics. Summa Cosmographica is one of his signature work, the whole book is in background of black with multi-level layout, making the book resmble the cosmos itself.
