Mary Blair worked for Walt Disney as an expert art director and concept artist, roughly from the 1940's to the 1960's. She began her artistic journey using watercolor, but would use gouache as her primary medium to create storyboards for films such as Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Johnny Appleseed, Cinderella, and more, as well as contributing to several other Disney projects. Since she worked on and off with Disney in the 50's, she would pursue commercial work with several brands as well, including Meadow Gold Dairy. In order to bring some life and whimsy into their advertisements, Blair created the Little Meadow Gold Girl: a lively brunette girl typically enjoying Meadow Gold's products. She adorably appears on several Meadow Gold products, advertisements, calendars, and even as paper or regular dolls.
