Widely known as the founder of Russian Constructivism alongside Vladimir Tatlin, Aleksandr Rodchenko was born on November 23, 1891 in St. Petersburg, Russia and over the course of his career, he produced a variety of different works such as, photography, posters, sculptures, and paintings. According to Brittanica,  Rodchenko studied fine arts at the Kazan School of Art and later studied in the Graphic Section of the Imperial Central Stroganov School of Industrial Art. 

According to the Museum of Modern Art's Aleksandr Rodchenko life and work timeline, in November of 1920, Rodchenko began teaching at Vkhutemas, commonly referred to as the “Soviet Bauhaus”.  During his time there, Rodchenko completed a variety of commissioned design work such as advertisements and posters for Dobrolet, a Russian airline.
