Go Away White Poster

The Bauhaus school housed some of the most influential innovations in design history. We still remember and reflect on the ideals and practices that were produced at the school, some of which are still being followed today.

Although people mainly recognize Bauhaus as a school, some may recognize Bauhaus as a band. The Bauhaus represented in this poster is actually a goth-rock band that originated in the 1970s. This poster, designed by Shepard Fairey, was created to promote Bauhaus' latest album Go Away White which was the band's comeback album after not releasing music for 25 years. The band was heavily inspired by the Bauhaus school and even named their band after it.

The typeface used to signify the band's name uses the same lettering style that Herbert Bayer created at the Bauhaus. Under the title of the album, a circular logo can be seen. This is not any ordinary logo, as this is the same logo that the Bauhaus used during its operation. The decision to include this specific typeface and logo undoubtedly pays homage to and references the Bauhaus.
