The Disabled Avant-Garde Today Exhibition

673

The Disabled Avant-Garde is an organization formed by disability artists based in London. They create contemporary art that inspires debate through satirical stereotyping of disability.

This exhibit is titled “The Disabled Avant-Garde Today!” and was created by Katherine Araniello and Aaron Williamson in 2006. It sheds light on those who make ‘disability art’ with various mediums and bank on a sort of shock value from their unique styles. This art paves way for people with disabilities to have a bigger platform for sharing their art and therefore gain more influence on changing the canon to be more accessible to other group minorities as well.
