Charlotte Sign Post N.911 Postcard

3

This 1913 Sign Post postcard in Charlotte, North Carolina is part of a popular series that illustrated stereotypes of Dutch immigrants in the U.S.A during the 20th century. The round, child-like caricatures, the accented speech being used, and the inclusion of a location has been depicted on many postcards within the printed series. During the early 20th century, there were massive waves of Dutch and German people immigrating to the United States for primarily economic opportunities.
