'The Farmingdale Camel” was the student publication (1978) of the New York State Institute of Applied Agriculture on Long Island, currently Farmingdale State College-SUNY. This issue of “The Farmingdale Camel” in particular is an introduction to a new publication on campus written by students, as a new means of open communication. The basis and reason behind this new publication is for students and faculty to voice their opinions and reason without being judged or misinterpreted. For instance, the variety of different contributors makes the publication come to life with pieces written by the Dean of Instruction himself, to the Student Affairs Board, the gay community, the students with strong opinions, and the staff who are often overlooked. The publication brings about a sense of freedom and belonging to the campus since everyone is capable of voicing their opinions.
