Katsumi Asaba (March 18, 1940) is a leading figure in advertising and typography production. He is the fifth president of the Japan Graphic Design Association (JAGDA) and president of the Tokyo Type Directors Club. The pocket watch ticked accurately as always. On a clear morning, at 8:15 on August 6, 1945, a bright red flash and explosion obliterated everything. Sixty-five years have passed, with nuclear weapons proliferating. In July, Issey Miyake wrote to the New York Times, inviting President Obama to the Peace Memorial Ceremony. Miyake's powerful voice, shaped by his experience of the bombing at age seven, underscores the importance of 2009, when Russia and the U.S. began moving towards nuclear disarmament.
