Cavallini Decorative Paper Sheet

This is a decorative print with a copyright from Cavallini & Co. The print is made with archival paper stock, and the back is blank.

The print is advertised as a decorative paper sheet, with the Cavallini Website stating, “Frame it, hang it up with our Vintage Poster Kit or use it as ephemera for crafts, decoupage, gift wrap, and more.”

This is an important piece of graphic design history because it displays an interesting blend of collage and culture. The pattern has various elements including the Monarch butterfly, incomplete sheet music, and the Eurasian Bullfinch bird; a common winter visitor in South Korea. Also, the print was copyrighted in 2009 and contains writing indicating it was printed in South Korea.

Cavallini & Co. is sourced by museums, high-design shops, bookstores, and others worldwide. Cavallini & Co. also has international distributors, including China, South Korea, France, Japan, and many more sharing art from around the world to other regions.

The print also features a vintage postage stamp from France with a cancellation stamp above it to prevent its reuse, it's worth noting that the postage stamps are not physical and are part of the printed pattern.

The decorative paper has also been referenced as collage-style Italian paper.

Note: The dark yellow border around the print is dictionary paper taped onto the back of the decorative print to fit the black frame better. It is not part of the art piece itself.
