Hyakumansan

Hyakumansan is the tourism advertising mascot character of Ishikawa prefecture. It was created for the promotion of the Hokuriku Shinkansen opening between Nagano station and Kanazawa station connecting the two prefectures in Japan. This character design was chosen among 4 designers that the prefecture has commissioned, and the name was given by public submission. Plenty of the prefecture’s original culture has been applied to the body, and the name expresses the power they used to have “Kaga Hyakumangoku” during the Sengoku period. The designer Satomi graduated from Kanazawa College of Art in 2001 and has worked as a designer in Hakuhodo. Now she is dedicated to Kanazawa’s commercial artwork.
