This work is one of Hanko's illustrations and frontispieces for magazines and newspapers. Hanko created many illustrations and frontispieces, with more than 50 books having illustrations and frontispieces. The woman in this work wears a kimono and has her hair tied up in Japanese style, but it has a Western feel from the Meiji era and can be said to capture the trends of that era. Also, through Hanko's illustrations and frontispieces, Hanko aimed to raise the status of those who performed these jobs.
