This book was created as a welcome document for P. T. Barnum's arrival to England in 1889, which was also interestingly his last visit prior to his death just 2 years later.
Through his business, P. T. Barnum had very strong influence and connections in England so a proper formal welcome to his arrival felt appropriate, and so printed by Hansard Publishing Union, Ltd. this was meant to serve that purpose.
