70's Aunt Jemima Syrup Label

850

Early 1970s Aunt Jemima brand syrup label. Aunt Jemima was created as a stereotype to craft a feeling of southern home cooking for the brand.

This mascot has a long history of racial stereotypes and has gone through many changes over the years.

From wikipedia:

On June 17, 2020, Quaker Oats announced that the Aunt Jemima brand would be discontinued and replaced with a new name and image "to make progress toward racial equality".[4][19] The image was removed from packaging in fall 2020, while the name change was said to be planned for a later date.
