Hyakuman-san is a mascot for Ishikawa Prefecture, made to look like a golden Daruma doll. He was designed for the opening of the Hokiriku Shinkansen the following year, created by artist and graphic designer Tanaka Satomi, who is from Ishikawa. He depicts a number of sightseeing spots on his body, including Kotoji lanterns, Mt. Hakusan, morning glory flowers, Kanazawa Castle and Ishikawa Gate.
