Japanese film pamphlet of award winning film To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), adapted from the novel by American author Harper Lee (published in 1960). The film was released in Japan in 1963, titled Alabama Story regionally.
This stapled pamphlet offers a brief insight into the plot of the film as well as information about a handful of the cast. There is an emphasis on the actor Gregory Peck, who played the character Atticus Finch. Several pages are dedicated to relaying insight about his acting career and basic information. With the release of the film in Japan, Mr. Peck became fairly popular among Japanese citizens.
The pages that do not give information about the film are mostly advertisement spaces relating to nutrition and department stores. The back cover, with an image of a woman and child, is an ad for a department store in Japan—with “Shirakiya” being one of the most prestigious ones. This particular store is no longer in business in Japan.
