Sixth Annual Spring Art Exhibition, Park Slope

Poster to promote the 1970 Spring art Exhibition in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY, designed by Charles Goslin. Goslin was an instructor of Graphic Design and Illustration at Pratt Institute from 1966–2007. He was a highly influential instructor having taught over 1,000 students. Goslin began his career working for design pioneer, Lester Beall. After leaving Beall’s office, Goslin set up his one-person studio in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

In this piece, the large brushstroke is used to symbolize fine art. The smaller images symbolize spring and an art exhibit.

Like this poster, many of his projects were done on a limited budget (many were pro bono) which he used to his advantage by being able to work in black and white. He combined styles and techniques that rubbed off against each other creating interest.
