Rocket Record Company 1975 45rpm Sleeve

8

The Rocket Record Company was founded by Elton John in 1973. In the USA, it was distributed by MCA Records.

The original logo was based on The Railroad Series books, written by Wilbert Awdry, creator of Thomas the Tank Engine.

This particular example is a release of “Your Favorite Entertainer” and “Bad Blood”  by Neil Sedaka, one of the early signers of the label.

The sleeve is made up of a bright blue surrounded radially by puffs of white clouds. “The Rocket Record Company” is written below in a blocky sans serif type. This style of type was also found in use by Columbia Records during the time. The letter “C” is a pie shape, or Pac-Man-like.

The bright, playful visuals with the zany type make this a bold design which invites the user in for a good time.
