An ukiyo-e woodblock print series created by Japanese artist Utagawa Hiroshige in the 19th century. The series depicts the journey along the Tokaido road, the main route connecting Tokyo and Kyoto during the Edo period. Japanese author Yukio Mishima wrote a book of essays, inspired by the series, in which he reflects on the beauty and transience of life.
