Lisa Frank Dolphin Bookmark

3

This 1990s Lisa Frank bookmark features two joyful, playful dolphins, swimming in a fantasy world where the sky and trees are shades of purple, orange and yellow. Her signature rainbow worlds grew larger by the 1990s, when many more characters were added, as the back of the bookmark explains. By this time the logo is displayed in a rainbow gradient, and Frank’s stories are more developed compared to the companies’ products from the 1980s. The dolphins were a popular motif for the brand. The dolphins have names and were later updated with more colors and even glitter. The Lisa Frank brand, inspired by the 1960s, has influenced multiple artists, including fashion designer Jeremy Scott. In his fall 2012 collection, he created a corset piece coated with Lisa Frank stickers. Macintosh Plus, the vaporwave artist, named a song after Lisa Frank, the hit single of her 2011 album Floral Shoppe. While the company is not the massive school supply purveyor of the 1980s and 1990s, Lisa Frank resurfaced in the mid 2010s with products and limited collaborations with Urban Outfitters, Reebok, Morphe, Pillsbury, and Orly nail polish.
