This ancient Venezuelan petroglyph represents one of the earliest forms of visual communication which was initialized by indigenous cultures long before printmaking. This mural is found in the Canaima National Park in Venezuela, however the exact age of the rock art remains uncertain, yet, it is believed to be dated around 4,000 years ago. These illustrations were carved and painted with natural pigments onto rock to depict how design and symbolism were used among early civilizations in Venezuela. Through this we are able to see the beginning of design in Venezuela, and how even though it is relatively less globaly expanding there are deep roots of indigenous design within.
