Goosebumps - Series 2000 - Invasion of the body squeezers part 1 - R.L Stine

Robert Lawrence Stine was born on October 8, 1943 and became one of the most famous authors for the popular book series “Goosebumps, by R.L Stine”. Here I have posted “Invasion of the body squeezers part one”, published in 1998 by Scholastic. It's not only a classic childhood read but the cover illustration has become an iconic design that captures suspense, horror and characteristics of what the Goosebump series are.

The cover art was designed by illustrator Tim Jacobus and became the cover designer for Goosebump from 1992 to 2004 working for Scholastic. All covers went through a series of sketches and phases to get his final design. Since couldn't make an illustration that looked like a painting digitally, traditional was the way to go.

The covers were first painted on 20 x 20 canvases with acrylic paint and airbrush to get these iconic illustrations. These paintings were then photographed by a specialized artwork photographer, to be made into book covers.

The Goosebump logo is also an important part of the book series. It doesn't only capture the R.L Stine's tone in his stories but its branding is so popular it is recognized all over the world. Created by graphic designer Hollie Tommanismo who worked in Scholastic as well, created the font by hand. So there isn’t a way to download this lettering to be used. Sadly other than this there isn't much about Hollie's time and process working with the Goosebumps team.

Overall R.L Stine's spooky stories, popular logo by Hollie Tommanismo and amazing cover art by Tim Jacobus has become such a classic!

R.L Stine is why you read them, Tim is why you buy them and Hollie is why you remember them!”
