The Echo poster

1

This is a poster created by William H. Bradley who was an American artist. In 1895, Bradley crafted a poster known as “The Echo” and other covers for a magazine for  “Chicago's humorous and artistic fortnightly”. He created 7 other designs that reflected the same theme and similar design style. Influenced by the English illustrator Aubrey Beardsley along with the Art Nouveau approach, Bradley was able to create an eye-catching cover. He used rich colors consisting of green, red, and yellow along with different thicknesses in lines/ negative space to create two women nearby amidst waving trees. He uses organic and flowing lines for the background and women that seem to blend seamlessly into the nature of Art Nouveau. His colors and composition captivate the viewer's attention and his poster was originally offered for sale for 25 cents along with a 3-month subscription for the magazine. His work was well known and even included in a collection of 26 lithographs curated by Jules Cheret
