This is a book cover designed by Yukio Ota in 1991 for the book 日立の頭脳, or Hitachi's Brain written by by Katsumi Kato. The book focuses on the company Hitachi’s status within scientific research and adoption of technologies from across the world.
In keeping with the technological theme, Ota utilizes rectangular shapes of orange, grey, and white, to create a structure with many elements. Some of these shapes, becoming smaller and more ‘pixel-y’ near the top, appear to look like a smokestack or tanks, an actual tank, and sparks and smoke.
