"Fitzgerald, the first employee at Pacific from a design background, was met with the brick wall of the convention — the title cards with hand-lettered script on a patterned or illustrated background. Fitzgerald found his yearning quashed by an an industry entrenched by lack of vision and desire, to move beyond the norms — literally to make things move! Not until Saul Bass broke the mold with his Man With a Golden Arm (1955) title design did new a approach take hold and the opportunity for Fitzgerald to become possibly THE most prolific title designer — creating titles for both feature films and TV as well as one of the first “designers” at Pacific to be credited for his work....
