“48 HRS” VHS tape

This “48 HRS.” VHS tape was released by Paramount Productions in 1982. Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy can be seen on the front of the package, bursting out of the magenta frame surrounding them.  The movie is about a police officer and a convict who team up to catch a killer, but only have 48 hours to do so.

This tape is relevant to graphic design history because of the innovative typography used on the package.  The designers of this VHS  knew how to effectively connect the name of the movie with the type.  Using numbers that would be seen on a digital clock was a successful design choice as it properly communicates the tone of the movie.
