In 1961, Roost Records released Sonny Side Up by alto-tenor saxophonist Sonny Stitt. Despite having the same name as an album he released in the late 50s with Dizzy Gillespie and Sonny Rollins, this LP is a solo effort with songs that reflect the bebop era of jazz. However, the most striking feature of this album is the cover, with oddly smooshed sans-serif type and photography. The cover of Sonny Side Up is bold in expression and relates to the vibrant colors of the design of the 60s.
