Alabama license plate

6

This 1977 Alabama license plate is white with red illustrations alongside blue, white, and red typography. This license plate features a combination of embossed lettering alongside printed imagery. The large illustration in the middle represents Alabama’s state capital Montgomery. The Alabama flag is shown in the top left corner. “Alabama” is printed on the top of the tag in a serif type, adjacent to the white “Heart of Dixie” sans-serif type within a red heart.  By 1976, Alabama license plates shifted to flat decals to update the year of the tag instead of embossed dates. This utilitarian item is marketed toward those who own a vehicle in Alabama.
