Resurrection City, 1968

This photograph was taken as part of Jill Freedman's 1968 collection Resurrection City. A modernist photographer, Freedman documented in the margins and curated pictures that brought normal people on the streets to life. For this series, Freedman captured The Poor People's Campaign in 1968 in light of MLKJ's murder. Deeply moved, she addressed the issues of economic inequality pervading the US upon racial differences.
