Poster for Nikkatsu Corp 日活株式会社のポスター

This piece designed in the early 1980s for the Nikkatsu Corp which  is a Japanese entertainment company known for its film and television productions.  the piece uses traditional hand-letting and vertically placed typeface which stands in stark contrast to the bright colored figures and background.  The two figures in the center circumvent  the center of the page and exist only as silhouettes upon the starkly halved backdrop. The distorted figures and the somewhat awkward seeming size diffrednce between their bodies almost feel like a hand-sculpted or children's rendition of a human form making the piece feel provocative and yet simple.
