War Photographer is a documentary by Christian Frei that premiered in 2001. It follows American photojournalist James Nachtwey through a post-war Kosovo, the riots of Jakarta, Indonesia, infighting in Ramallah, Palestine, and uprisings in Thokoza, South Africa. The film showed gruesome images of war.

The documentary speaks about war through narratives. It represents people's stories, often during the most difficult times in their lives. The film invites viewers to reflect on the reality they do not want to see. Its main function is to inform the world about the atrocities inflicted on people. The film concludes with a statement from Nachtwey: “The only way I could justify my role, is to have respect for other persons predicament. The extent to which I do it, is the extent to which I become accepted by the other, and to that extent I can accept myself.”
