Obey The Laws Of Physics

1

This is a signed Shepard Fairey Obey Giant print for an instrumental band called Physics.  This poster was published signed in 1998 but was designed in 1997.  It features the Andre the Giant Has a Posse by OBEY street campaign, which is used to democratize art, in order to make art more accessible and to show that there is room in the public for more than just advertising.

Physics was an instrumental math rock band that was established in 1993 by John D. Goff and Denver Lucas after the breakup of Johnny Superbad And The Bulletcatchers, and underwent numerous rotating members until being dissolved in 2000.  The band was primarily composed of Jeff Coad on synths, Rob Crow on guitars, Will & John Goff on guitars/synths/bagpipes, and Cameron Jones on drums.  Physics was mainly influenced by krautrock, minimalism, and electronic music.  When Physics split up, Jason Soares and Jeff Coad went on to form a more electronic focused band called Aspects of Physics.

Shepard Fairey is an American Contemporary Artist, activist and founder of OBEY.  Fairey also designed the Barack Obama "Hope" poster used in the 2008 US Presidential Campaign, and is described by The Boston Institute of Contemporary Art, as one of the best and most influential street artists.
